We have a brand new hostess this week at 52 Christmas Card ThrowdownLouise has set us a sketch challenge, and a rather unusual one too.  When I first saw it, it reminded me of a card I made a while back using the retiform technique, so I thought it would be fun to make another …

Not a lot of supplies were needed – just some inks, cardstock and a stamp set! If you like this technique and would like to try it for yourself, SplitCoast Stampers have a fab tutorial available.

Something old, something new …

… but nothing borrowed and nothing blue…

Instead some gorgeous smoky slate cardstock and ink – a brand new colour shade which I just love! Plus a brand new stamp set too, all available in the new Stampin’ Up! catalogue available from 2nd July 2013.  So a little sneak peek of some up-and-coming goodies for you with this retiform card …

Here’s what I used to make today’s card – all supplies from Stampin’ Up!:

cardstock: whisper white, smoky slate; stamp sets: happy day; inks: smoky slate, basic grey; accessories: adhesive rhinestones, stampin’ dimensionals, basic grey/black two tone ribbon, sponge daubers.
