Hello and welcome.
My challenge this week at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown, was inspired by the Christmas tradition of kissing under the mistletoe, and is a technique called stamp kissing. This involves touching one stamp against another, or “kissing”, before stamping down onto the cardstock. It can give some wonderful patterns and fun results, and really stretches your stamps, giving them a new and different look.
Here, I used the varsity alphabet stamp set to kiss against the solid stripes stamp, both by Stampin Up, to create candy cane stripes.
I first inked up the solid stripes stamp in my chosen colour, then kissed an uninked varsity alphabet stamp onto the solid stripes stamp, before stamping the image down onto white card. I cut them out by hand – pretty easy to do with this alphabet stamp set as it has lots of straight lines.
I added a layer of melon mambo card, and one in whisper white, and adhered the letters individually. The Christmas sentiment was stamped in versafine black onyx ink, using my Misti for perfect placement.
Finally, I coloured a piece of white card with green galore ink to match, before die cutting the holly leaves and the berries in melon mambo using Sizzix dies.
I love using rainbow colours at the moment – they look so fun and cheerful, and I think we could all do with a bit of cheering up right now. I used Stampin’ Up inks in melon mambo, pumpkin pie, daffodil delight, green galore and tempting turquoise.
