Hello friends. It’s time for another exciting challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown, and this week, we’re working with a stunning black, white, and gold colour palette. This combination exudes elegance and sophistication, making it perfect for festive card-making.
For my design, I chose a snowflake theme using the Snow Swirled stamp set by Stampin’ Up and the Bold Snowflake Flurry die set by Sue Wilson (Creative Expressions). The mix of heat embossing, die-cutting, and luxurious finishes brings a touch of festive magic to this creation.

Step-by-Step: Creating the Black, White & Gold Snowflake Card
1. Stamping & Heat Embossing the Background
I started with a black cardstock panel as my background, providing the perfect contrast for crisp embossing. Three beautiful snowflakes, in varying sizes, were stamped using Versamark ink and then heat-embossed in white embossing powder. The delicate swirls and intricate details of the Snow Swirled stamp set really shine against the dark background.
For the sentiment, I opted for gold heat embossing to add a regal touch. This shimmering gold against the black base creates a striking focal point.

2. Adding a Die-Cut Snowflake
To enhance the layered effect, I die-cut the largest snowflake from brushed gold cardstock using the Bold Snowflake Flurry die set. This beautiful snowflake was then adhered over the heat-embossed images, adding depth and a luxurious finish. The contrast between the smooth, metallic die-cut and the embossed elements makes the design even more eye-catching.

3. Assembling the Card
Once my panel was complete, I adhered it to a white A6 card base. The white frame around the black panel helps to balance the dark tones and makes the design feel bright and festive.
4. Finishing Touches – A Sprinkle of Pearls
To complete the look, I scattered white and gold half-back pearls across the card. This subtle embellishment mimics the glistening effect of snowflakes falling, adding texture and elegance without overpowering the design.

A Sophisticated Take on Christmas Elegance
I love how this card turned out—it’s a perfect blend of classic and contemporary! The bold contrast of black and white paired with shimmering gold accents makes for an elegant yet festive look. This design could easily be recreated with different snowflake stamps or embossing powders for a unique touch.
I hope this inspires you to take on this week’s 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Colour Challenge! If you love classic holiday elegance, why not give black, white, and gold a try? Be sure to share your creations with us—we can’t wait to see your beautiful designs.
Happy crafting and Merry Christmas in advance!
When I first saw this I liked the white snowflakes, they zoomed and were pretty. But the more I looked at it the more the warm gold dominated like a giant Red Giant star until I found myself purring into the Cosmos with pearlescent stars disappearing in to infinity…calm my wandering mind!
Not being a fan of black, gold and white for Christmas I loved it far more than I expected to when I first saw it.
wow Gill, elle est si sophistiquée et chic! biz
