Do you know how versatile crumb cake is?

Hi and welcome to my blog. Don’t you just love it when you stumble upon a colour combination that you fall in love with?

These pretty designer series papers are from Stampin’ Up, in pretty colours of blushing bride and concord crush, and there are a few more colours in the pack. I teamed these with crumb cake ink and cardstock and just loved how they looked together …

Blushing bride and crumb cake – another marriage made in heaven…

I hope you like my cards for today – both are DL size. Mother’s day in the UK was earlier this year, but other parts of Europe and the US, are still to celebrate their special day for mums. If you changed up the sentiment, these cards would be great for lots of different occasions – birthday, get well, friendship, thank you, or just because. What will you make with yours?

All things bright and beautiful – handmade greetings cards …

Hi, and welcome to my blog.

So I was in my craft room the other day, tidying my card scraps into some semblance of order … well, when I say tidying I mean playing. I loved how some brightly coloured card from the brights colour range by Stampin’ Up looked next to each other – tempting turquoise, melon mambo, daffodil delight, pumpkin pie and lucky limeade – lucky limeade is retired but I throw nothing away, and if you’re listening Stampin’ Up – I MISS LUCKY LIMEADE! (just sayin’).

Inspired by the colours, I sat down and made some bright and cheerful greetings cards for upcoming family birthdays and events – my “string and blings”…

Whilst tidying up, I found an old stamp set by Inkadinkado which has been in my stash for years. I just love the fun and funky images – they look rather like zentangle …

I stamped the images onto whisper white cardstock, added a sentiment using my stampamajig for perfect alignment, then distressed the edges of the cardstock a little …

I used neutrals white and neutrals ivory cardstock to cut mat layers, stamped the edges with the unmounted stitches jumbo wheel (tutorial here), wrapped lengths of string around and then mounted the stamped images on top …

I adhered these to coloured cardstock, then added lots of pretty sequins, beads and bling from my stash to complement …

I love the way this particular sentiment from Stampin’ Up follows the lines of the fish – looks a little wave-like to me …

I had so much fun!  All those gorgeous bright colours just make me happy!

I also made a couple in more muted tones (no sunglasses required …)
