Christmas acetate shaker card

Hello and welcome.

The stash challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown this week is to use acetate. Perfect time to make a shaker card …

I cut a piece of dsp to size and inserted into an acetate bag, folding it on one edge to fit, then filled with snowflake sequins before sealing the bag.  A few snowflakes were adhered to the dsp too.

I mat and layered the shaker card and sentiment using sahara sand card by Stampin Up, and adhered it to a 6″ base card.

I hope you’ve been inspired to join the challenge this week.

Enjoy your weekend

Snowglobe Christmas shaker card

Hi and welcome.

There’s lots of wonderful inspiration over at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown, where this week the theme is snowglobes. I had so many ideas going round my head for this challenge it was hard to pin it down to just one!  In the end, I used the September craft box by Sizzix to make a snowglobe shaker card…

I chose pool party and real red by Stampin’ Up for the colour scheme, with a little sahara sand on the reindeer from the Folk Christmas set by Sizzix.

I cut the holly out in whisper white card, then put the die cuts back into the piece of card so I could  quickly colour over the area with stampin’ write marker pens in the same colours.

I added the white shaker bits, also from the September craft box, and a little silver glass glitter too. I only wish I’d added some more but was a bit worried about putting too much in – I guess you can never have too much bling!  I did, however, take advice from Jennifer McGuire and adhered a few of the snowflakes to the card background so they were still visible when the rest of the shaker bits fall to the bottom.

The base of the snowglobe is from the Captured Memories stamp set by Cardio Stamps, stamped in real red ink on real red card, with clear embossing powder over top.

Finally, a hand-tied red satin ribbon, adhered with a glue dot, completed the card.

It was a bit difficult to photograph well with the reflections on the snow dome, but it looks so pretty in real life and is fun to play with!

Thanks for dropping by today, I hope you’ve been inspired to join the challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown – we would love to see you there.

Have a wonderful weekend
