Christmas card using Stampin Up paper scraps and die cuts

Hello and welcome.

Can’t quite believe we are on the last challenge of the month for May over at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown – where did this month go to?! It’ll soon be Christmas!

I’ve recently been giving myself a personal challenge to use up my paper scraps, so this challenge is just perfect for me as that’s exactly what it challenges us to do – use your scraps!

So, from my treasure chest of scraps, I found these co-ordinating papers and die cut pieces for my card…

I started with a piece of very vanilla card to make the base, and adhered strips of paper and crumb cake card, sandwiching a piece of gold embossed vellum between two of the papers too, all from Stampin Up.

The die cut trees, gifted to me by a friend, matched beautifully with the coloured polka dots in the paper.

Finally, I added a star, punched from gold glitter card, echoing the gold of the embossing in the vellum, and corner rounded the top right corner.

I love how this turned out – it used up so many of my scraps and has the added bonus that it’s flat for posting.

I hope you’ve been inspired to join the challenge this week – we’d love to see what you make.

Enjoy your weekend.

Stampin Up sheet music embossing folder handmade Christmas card

Hello and welcome.

The May theme challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown this week is ‘music’. There are so many ideas to choose from for this theme, from stamps to paper and everything inbetween.  In the end, I decided to use the sheet music embossing folder by Stampin Up for the background of my card, and for a change, I added the embossing directly to the card base, so you see the embossing on the inside of the card too…

I’ve also recently been challenging myself to use up my paper scraps, so delved in my treasure chest of scraps and found this die cut star, left over from a previous project, which made the perfect focal image popped up on the card…

Also in my scrap box was this die cut ‘joy’ sentiment, from the Stampin Up wondrous wreath die set, which added a bright pop of colour to an otherwise neutral coloured card.

And to finish, I added a couple of die cut holly leaves, using the Tim Holtz Holiday Greens die set, ink sponged them around the edges, and added a crystal jewel for a little sparkle.

So, no stamping on my card this week – I had a great time playing with paper though.

I hope you’ll join in this super challenge.  The lovely ladies on the design team have created some beautiful examples to inspire you, so do pop over to take a look.

Enjoy your weekend
