They say that time flies when you’re having fun! I’ve been so busy over the past few weeks preparing and making things for my daughter’s wedding. I have lots to share with you but of course had to wait until after the wedding so as not to spoil the surprise.
I made their wedding card a while ago and am so pleased that I can finally share it …
The wedding took place in Malta, at the beautiful Golden Sands Bay, with breath-taking views and beautiful surroundings. The beach theme was continued throughout from the wedding invitations and stationery, to the wedding cake too – you may remember the invitations I shared a few months ago.
So when it came to their wedding card, I wanted something in keeping with their chosen theme and something a little bit unusual. I took my inspiration from the theme and added my own little twists…
They say that when seahorses mate, they mate for life, so I thought the seahorse image from the By the Tide stamp set from Stampin’ Up! would be very appropriate for the newlyweds. I stamped 2 seahorses in soft suede ink, together with the shell, onto very vanilla cardstock, cut them out with my paper snips, shaped them a little with my bone folder and adhered them to the card with stampin’ dimensionals.
For the watery, sea-inspired background, I followed the tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers stamping onto water-colour paper. It’s a technique that has been around for a long time, but it was good to revisit it again, and it gave me an ideal backdrop for the card.
I added linen thread, adhesive pearls and a few tiny shells, and then created some texture with the colour spritzer, glass glitter and embossing powders, for a sandy look.
The wedding sentiment was stamped onto the bottom of the card so that they can frame the watercolour picture afterwards if they wish to. Both sentiments are from a retired hostess set, but the words and fonts are so beautiful that I can’t bear to part with them, and couldn’t resist using them on the card – they were just so right.
My daughter and her new husband loved the card – it was unique, made just for them.
I have lots more wedding projects to share with you, so please pop back again soon.
