Hi, and welcome to my blog.
So I was in my craft room the other day, tidying my card scraps into some semblance of order … well, when I say tidying I mean playing. I loved how some brightly coloured card from the brights colour range by Stampin’ Up looked next to each other – tempting turquoise, melon mambo, daffodil delight, pumpkin pie and lucky limeade – lucky limeade is retired but I throw nothing away, and if you’re listening Stampin’ Up – I MISS LUCKY LIMEADE! (just sayin’).
Inspired by the colours, I sat down and made some bright and cheerful greetings cards for upcoming family birthdays and events – my “string and blings”…

Whilst tidying up, I found an old stamp set by Inkadinkado which has been in my stash for years. I just love the fun and funky images – they look rather like zentangle …

I stamped the images onto whisper white cardstock, added a sentiment using my stampamajig for perfect alignment, then distressed the edges of the cardstock a little …

I used neutrals white and neutrals ivory cardstock to cut mat layers, stamped the edges with the unmounted stitches jumbo wheel (tutorial here), wrapped lengths of string around and then mounted the stamped images on top …

I adhered these to coloured cardstock, then added lots of pretty sequins, beads and bling from my stash to complement …

I love the way this particular sentiment from Stampin’ Up follows the lines of the fish – looks a little wave-like to me …

I had so much fun! All those gorgeous bright colours just make me happy!

I also made a couple in more muted tones (no sunglasses required …)

I love these! I miss lucky limeade too! xxx
Thanks Lesley. Glad I’m not the only one! Lucky limeade is just gorgeous … I have a small stash but will be sad when it’s all gone xx
I made sure I ordered a pk before it retired, so I would have it on hand! So glad I did! I love that green! Although I miss it, I am not ready for another color vamp that’ll cost me anymore!
Me too Cheryl. I’m hoping for a comeback in the in-colours maybe? I can but hope! Xx
Yep! That’s the thing Stampin’ Up! I like to be challenged/inspired by new colours and new combos of colours. But, then to loose it after using it for 2 years is like loosin’ your favourite eyeshadow/lippy or ice-cream flavour!
Lovely cards Gill and fab stamps – I am a fan of doodling and the Brights family too!
Christine D. 🙂 x
Oh Christine – you did make me giggle! I hated it when Max Factor stopped making the shade of lipstick I’d worn for years (I never have found an alternative that I like, so end up using none), and don’t get me started on losing my favourite ice-cream! I used to buy strawberry ice-cream with real pieces of strawberry in, but my favourite brand stopped making it! I mean – what’s that all about?!!! Now it’s strawberry cheesecake flavour and it’s just not the same 😦 Hope you have a great day Christine – you’ve certainly made me smile xx
Love the cards Gill, especially the stamps. I use Pear Pizzazz, since we lost Lucky Limeade….. it softened the blow 🙂 x
Gill – these are fantastic. I like both the bold and the neutral sets! Great work.
I have this set of stamps too – just love the fun, funky patterns and quirky animals. I think SU missed a beat discontinuing Lucky Limeade, I prefer it to Pear Pizzazz!
These are really lovely!
