Embossed Christmas card using paper scraps

Hello and welcome.

A new month means a new sketch challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown. The sketch immediately made me think of Christmas trees. Continuing with my personal challenge of using up my paper scraps, I delved once more into my treasure chest of paper scraps and found a delightful tree image from a scrapbook paper pack I bought with my very first gift voucher from my husband all those years ago.  Who knew then what a wonderful world of papercrafting he would open up for me?!

A small paper scrap like this called for a smaller base card, so I used a regular A7 size for my card….

I am delighted that I finally found a home and use for this pretty little Christmas tree image – it was too pretty not to be used and I love the mix of patterns and the touch of glitter…

I used the 3D textured impressions tree pattern embossing folder by Sizzix for the mat and layer, but flipped it to show the de-bossed side for a change, and distressed the edges to reveal the white core of the card…

Finally, I rounded the top corners of both the card and the de-bossed layer, adhered the tree image to the centre and added a sentiment stamped on whisper white card and cut into a banner shape.

I hope you’ve been inspired to join in the challenge this week.  It may be June outside, but we are nearly half-way through the year – by joining in our challenges, you will be well on your way to having all your seasonal cards done in time for Christmas!

Enjoy your weekend

  1. Gill… love that folksy tree! So fun. I especially like that you used the de-embossed side of the folder. I never do that but I am loving the effect! (BTW… I used the same EF on my card.)
