A Modern Twist on Festive Cheer: Creating a Pink, Green, and White Christmas Card with Spellbinders & Stampin’ Up!

When it comes to Christmas card crafting, sometimes breaking away from traditional red and green hues can create something truly magical. This year, why not try a unique twist with a vibrant, contemporary pink, green, and white palette? For my colour challenge today over at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown, I’m sharing a stunning card design that combines elements from Spellbinders, Stampin’ Up!, and Sizzix to deliver a refreshingly modern and festive look that’s sure to impress.

Card Overview

This card brings together a wintery embossed background, bold colours, and a focal Christmas stocking in a chic pink and green to capture a whimsical Christmas spirit. Here’s a step-by-step look at each layer and how it all comes together:

Materials Needed

  • Spellbinders Flurry of Snowflakes 3D Embossing Folder – for the card background.
  • Spellbinders Notched Corner Frames Dies – for that clean-cut, vibrant frame layer.
  • Sizzix Christmas Stocking Dies by Sophie Guilar – to create the Christmas stocking focal point.
  • Spellbinders Holiday Quotes Stamp Set – for the festive sentiment.
  • Cathe Holden & Spellbinders Fancy Label Stamps – to add a beautifully framed touch to the sentiment.
  • DSP in various patterns – from my stash, any Christmas patterned papers would work well.
  • Stampin’ Up! Ink and Cardstock:
    • Melon Mambo (a vivid pink)
    • Lucky Limeade (a fresh, light green)

Step 1: The Background

To begin, I selected a sturdy, white card base and ran it through my die-cutting machine using the Spellbinders Flurry of Snowflakes 3D Embossing Folder. This embossing folder adds an elegant texture with raised snowflakes, making the background feel dynamic yet refined. The white-on-white design keeps things crisp, letting the other elements shine against this frosty backdrop.

Step 2: Adding a Pop of Pink

For a splash of colour, I used the Spellbinders Notched Corner Frames Dies to cut a piece of Melon Mambo cardstock, which serves as a vibrant pop of colour. Instead of using it as a typical frame, I trimmed the cardstock layer flush with the card edge to give a bold backdrop for the focal image that adds structure and makes the card look polished. The notched corners lend a subtle modern flair that contrasts beautifully with the embossed snowflakes.

Step 3: Creating the Christmas Stocking Focal Point

Next up is the charming focal point: a Christmas stocking in pink and green designer series paper (DSP) using the Sizzix Christmas Stocking Dies by Sophie Guilar. These dies are sized perfectly for standard A6 cards.  I layered different patterned papers in complementary shades of pink and green, assembling the stocking to highlight its cheerful and playful details. By popping it up with foam tape, I added a sense of depth, allowing the stocking to be the true focal point of the design. The raised effect gives it a playful, almost hanging-from-the-mantel feel that brings the card to life.

Step 4: Adding the Sentiment

No Christmas card is complete without a warm holiday message. For this design, I used a festive sentiment from the Spellbinders Holiday Quotes Stamp Set. Stamped in Melon Mambo ink, the pink matches the cardstock layer, bringing cohesion to the overall colour scheme. To add an extra touch of sophistication, I framed the sentiment with one of the Fancy Label Stamps by Cathe Holden and Spellbinders, stamped in Lucky Limeade ink. This creates a lovely contrast with the pink while giving the sentiment a formal yet charming border. The label was then cut by hand and adhered to the top of the stocking.

Finishing Touches

With each layer complete, the final step was assembling the card. The embossed background, melon mambo layer, and foam-mounted stocking come together to create a festive yet fresh card that’s delightfully different. The unconventional colour scheme of pink, green, and white feels cheerful and playful, while the embossed snowflakes and notched corners keep it stylishly refined.

Why Choose Pink, Green, and White?

Pink and green, while non-traditional, add a whimsical feel that’s both refreshing and festive. This colour choice stands out among typical holiday cards, making it memorable for the recipient and perfect for anyone who appreciates a modern twist on classic Christmas themes.
