A Festive Feline Christmas Card

For this week’s 52 Christmas Card Throwdown sketch challenge, I designed a card that combines seasonal charm with a touch of feline fun.

Supplies Used:

  • Dies: Marianne Collectables cat dies, snowflake die, circle die
  • Punch: Stars border punch
  • Embossing Folder: Spellbinders Plaid Company
  • Stamp Set: Holly Jolly Wishes stamp set by Stampin’ Up
  • Cardstock: White, Pink Pirouette, Black, Silver, Blue Glitter
  • Additional tool: Bone folder, foam adhesive, adhesive, scissors.

The Design Process

I started by selecting my colour palette, opting for a soft yet wintry combination of white, pink, silver, and blue dsp, with a bold contrast of black stamping.

The background features pink pirouette cardstock embossed with the Spellbinders Plaid Company embossing folder, adding a lovely textured effect that gives the card a cosy, festive feel. I then layered a circle die-cut in dsp to create a focal point, adding a wintery backdrop for the focal image.

Next, I die-cut an adorable cat from white and pink pirouette cardstock using the Marianne Collectables cat dies. Positioned within the circle, this pretty feline is gazing out in wonder, bringing a whimsical touch to the card.

To enhance the festive sparkle, I cut a snowflake from white cardstock and arranged it beside the cat. The stars border punch was used on blue glitter cardstock to create tiny stars to add extra touches of shimmer and twinkling.

The finishing touch was the sentiment from the Holly Jolly Wishes stamp set by Stampin’ Up, stamped in black for a crisp and elegant contrast and using the Tim Holtz stamp platform for perfect placement.

Final Thoughts

I absolutely loved working on this challenge, and the combination of textures, layers, and die-cut elements really brought the design to life. The cat adds a playful charm, making this Christmas card perfect for any feline-loving friend. I decided to base the cat on one of my previous cards here. Instead of making a punch art cat, I treated myself to the Marianne Collectables dies, which I love!
