Delightful decorations colour challenge …

Hi and welcome to my blog. The Christmas lights may be down and the decorations tidied away for another year, but we would love you to join in our current challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown as it’s never too early to start making your holiday cards!

This week is a colour challenge.  As soon as I saw these colours together I thought of a card we made at a Stampin’ Up event a few years ago.  I decided to case it, changing up the colours to fit the challenge and use different stamp sets, so chose Delightful Decorations and Four the Holidays (both retired)

I have no idea whose original idea the card was but I still really like it, even after all this time. One thing I did realise is I need to buy a new cherry cobbler ink pad as mine has gone terribly dry.  Still, I kinda liked the faded stamped image as it seemed to add to the overall distressed look. What I wasn’t so happy about was the stamped sentiment – I used whisper white ink first, but that ink pad too is very dry, so I had to over-stamp in versamark and heat emboss with white embossing power so I could see the sentiment. I was hoping it would still look OK, but to me it just looks blurred.  I decided to leave it as it was and to learn my lesson – test stamp on scrap paper first before committing to my card, or don’t leave my sentiment until last!

I hope you’ve been inspired to come join in and share your lovely cards with us.  The Design Team girls have created lots of lovely cards to inspire you, so do drop by to 52 Christmas Card Throwdown and join the fun.

It’s great to hear from you, so feel free to leave a message.

Winter post by Stampin’ Up …

The theme for this week’s challenge at Christmas Card Throwdown is “winter sports”.  I am lucky to have an extensive library of stamps in my collection, including these beautiful skaters from the Winter Post stamp set by Stampin’ Up …

This Christmas dsp has beautiful, gold glittered snowflakes and it made a perfect background to show off the skaters which were stamped in archival black ink onto white shimmery cardstock, then die cut using the circle stitched framelits …

The sentiment is from the Four the Holidays stamp set. I added a frame die cut in gold glimmer paper, and a taffeta bow in whisper white  …

I hope you like my card for this week. The ladies on the Design Team have created lots of lovely cards to inspire you, so do pop over to Christmas Card Throwdown to take a look.
