Hi and welcome to my blog. There’s a new challenge at The Male Room today, so I have another masculine card for you – a 3D card for the man in my life…
My hubs loves receiving cards that are a little bit different, or that move, and I’m always challenged to come up with something new and different for him! (You can see some of his previous cards here and here).
He is a keen diver, so I was excited to use an under water theme for his card. I paper-pieced cartoon copyright free images for this fun, 3-dimensional, interactive card with the accordion flip album 3-D bigz die by Sizzix …
Paper piecing is a great technique for using up card scraps – and fun too!
The punched pieces were sponged in matching inks to add shading and depth, and marker pens added details and pattern here and there. Gorgeous grunge dots stamped in illuminate ink made great underwater bubbles too …
Computer-generated puns for the greeting (I couldn’t resist), reminders of one of our favourite cartoon movies – Finding Nemo …
And a cute little punch-art crab to hold his birthday greeting on the front of the card. He may have reached a milestone birthday, but my guy is still young at heart (which I love!)
I’m not sure he’s seen any whales or turtles on his dives, but my husband has described the wonderful, colourful sea-life he’s had the pleasure to see, and tells me it’s like a whole new world down there. It sounds amazing.
I’m entering my card in the Male Room Under Water Theme Challenge.
