A slimline poinsettia Christmas card

Hi and welcome to my blog, I hope you’re having a good day.

The new theme challenge this week at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown is slimline cards. I have some slimline card bases in my crafts stash, from many moons ago, but have only limited colours left, but I rather liked this shade of pink …

For the focal image of my card, I stamped and watercoloured a poinsettia, fussy cutting it when it was dry.  I love stamping and all the different possibilities it offers – from inks, to techniques, to patterns and designs – and I love how you can achieve so many different looks with the same stamp.

I love poinsettias at Christmas, and always buy a fresh plant each year, but I have to admit that last year my plant didn’t even make it to Christmas day! Instead, its leaves curled up and drooped within days of me bringing it home, and ended up in the compost before Christmas Eve.  Now, before you start to think I’m not green fingered, the plant I bought 3 Christmases ago is still alive and well and is positively thriving!

A quick search of my paper stack and I found this blue paper with all those delicious mini snowflakes – I love the blue next to the pink – perfect! More scraps from my scraps box for the glittered snowflake and winter sprig – all that was left was a stamped sentiment, done.

I’m linking my card to the Happy Little Stampers watercolour challenge where anything goes, Inspire Create where anything goes, and also We Love Chocolate Baroque where the theme is “I love” as I do so love poinsettias!

I hope you like my card for this week and it’s given you some inspiration. Do come and join us at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown – we’d love to see your work.

Enjoy your weekend

A super quick Christmas card …

Hi, and welcome to my blog.

So I’m back this week with a new Christmas design for the brand new challenge over at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown, and I’m super excited to be the hostess for the month of August (how exciting!)  I am really looking forward to setting new challenges each week, to inspire and help you get ahead of the game with your festive card creations. I do hope you’ll join me and the rest of the Design Team.

I’ve kicked off this week with a sketch, and for my design card I made something that is not only super simple and easy to make, but can be easily mass-produced and is quick to do, perfect for when you have lots of holiday cards to make…

Joyful-Christmas

This card does not use a lot of supplies and makes great use of all those designer series paper scraps you might have lying around … just like I did. (There will be new Christmas designs from Stampin’ Up in the next seasonal catalogue, due to launch soon.)

I stamped straight onto the base, making a one-layer card – perfect for posting. The fancy deckle edge adds a little bit of design without adding more layers to the card …

Just some added bling to make it festive, and you’re done!

Top tip:- a square punch makes the flag ends to the dsp super quick and easy to do.

And now it’s time to see what the rest of the Design Team have been up to at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown.  Why not join us? We would love to see your creations.
