How to Train Your Dragon punch art …

Hi and welcome to my blog. I loved making this How to Train Your Dragon punch-art birthday card for my daughter…

She may be 30, but she’s still young at heart, and she absolutely loves the Toothless character from the movie How to Train Your Dragon – well who doesn’t? In fact, my husband and I went to see How to Train Your Dragon 2 at the cinema and we both loved it!

I think the baby Toothless character looked quite cute …

I made a baby Toothless character in fondant for her cake too, by following the tutorial I purchased from the Cake Dutchess, just making a few changes of my own here and there …

I made grey “volcanic rocks” from fondant, which I placed behind Toothless so I had something to put the number candles into …

This was my first attempt at a pinata cake, and my first rainbow cake too.

I used Smarties in the centre of the cake, but wished their colours had been a bit brighter to match the cake …

guess that’s what you get with natural food colourings?

It was a lot of work making all those different coloured layers, but it was worth it to see my daughter’s face when she cut into the cake!
