Ooh! What a busy, bustling time of the year it is! Lots to do as we prepare for Christmas. But amid the seasonal makes, I found time to make a card for the lovely Diane, to let her know just how much she is going to be missed.
I used the largest butterfly from the best of butterflies stamp set from Stampin’ Up!, stamped three times in island indigo without re-inking – to achieve 3 shades of the same colour.

I hand cut the butterflies and then stacked them, one on top of each other, adhering with a little tombo glue. I popped small pieces of stampin’ dimensionals between the wings to keep them raised, giving a 3D effect.
To add a little sparkle to the butterfly, I used a two-way glue pen around the edges of the wings and sprinkled with dazzling diamonds glitter.

I added glitter to the tea lace paper doily too, although this was more of a happy accident than design. I used my anywhere glue stick to adhere the doily, completely forgetting for a moment about the holes in the doily! So I sprinkled dazzling diamonds on the doily too … sparkly serendipity!
A sprinkling of adhesive pearls – one coloured with crystal effects and ink to colour match the butterfly…

Whisper white baker’s twine, tied around the card in a small bow, added some soft texture.
The doilies were actually a gift from one my Stampin’ Up friends – Jane – which I’ve had for ages and not used (they are so pretty too). I finally put them to good use Jane – thank you! I love Jane’s crafting style – do check out her beautiful creations at Petite Fleur Paperie.
And I was delighted to learn this week, that my Christmas card made the top 3 in the Around the World Stampin’ Up! Challenge! I’m so pleased!
Spurred on by this success, I’ve entered today’s card in the Less is More challenge – which this week is “sparkle”.
And the inspiration for today’s card came from a birthday card and gift box my gorgeous friend, Debs, made for me…

Thank you for my birthday gifts Debs – you are so talented and I love you to bits!
You can see more of Deb’s projects on her blog – Wrightcrafty.
Here’s what I used to make today’s card – all supplies from Stampin’ Up!:
cardstock: naturals white, sahara sand, whisper white; stamp sets: best of butterflies; inks: island indigo; accessories: adhesive pearls, stampin’ dimensionals, anywhere glue stick, tea lace paper doily, whisper white baker’s twine, crystal effects, island indigo re-inker, two-way glue pen, dazzling diamonds; additional: computer generated sentiment.
