I could not wait to show you my card for this week’s 52 Christmas Card Throwdown challenge – the colours are my favourites to use for Christmas cards for a lovely, traditional look – which I adore. I love the texture and the bling I managed to add too – they are so me!
When I saw the colours in the colour challenge for this week, it made me think of Christmas poinsettia flowers. I’ve treated myself to the Joyful Christmas stamp set, which has a great poinsettia in it, but as I’m still waiting for my order to arrive, I looked through my stamp collection to see what else I could use to make my own poinsettia instead.
I used one of the bauble images from the Ornaments Keepsakes set to make poinsettia petals, which I then layered and adhered to a punched circle of card …
Gold sequins made a great centre for the flower, with a few adhesive pearls too. I must admit, I’m a bit addicted to using the gold sequins at the moment – if it stands still long enough, it gets a sequin added!
There are matching framelits for the ornament keepsakes stamp, but this time I decided to cut them out by hand instead using my paper snips – you need a steady hand, but it’s fun to do.
A matching mat of very vanilla card on the inside of the card allows space for a stamped sentiment, and to add a message. A strip of cherry cobbler card, embossed with the petals a plenty embossing folder, completed the co-ordinated look.
I added a touch of sponging, in crumb cake ink, to the edges of the very vanilla card layer, which looks lovely in real life and, together with the crochet trim, gives a vintage feel to the card.
