All things bright and beautiful – handmade greetings cards …

Hi, and welcome to my blog.

So I was in my craft room the other day, tidying my card scraps into some semblance of order … well, when I say tidying I mean playing. I loved how some brightly coloured card from the brights colour range by Stampin’ Up looked next to each other – tempting turquoise, melon mambo, daffodil delight, pumpkin pie and lucky limeade – lucky limeade is retired but I throw nothing away, and if you’re listening Stampin’ Up – I MISS LUCKY LIMEADE! (just sayin’).

Inspired by the colours, I sat down and made some bright and cheerful greetings cards for upcoming family birthdays and events – my “string and blings”…

Whilst tidying up, I found an old stamp set by Inkadinkado which has been in my stash for years. I just love the fun and funky images – they look rather like zentangle …

I stamped the images onto whisper white cardstock, added a sentiment using my stampamajig for perfect alignment, then distressed the edges of the cardstock a little …

I used neutrals white and neutrals ivory cardstock to cut mat layers, stamped the edges with the unmounted stitches jumbo wheel (tutorial here), wrapped lengths of string around and then mounted the stamped images on top …

I adhered these to coloured cardstock, then added lots of pretty sequins, beads and bling from my stash to complement …

I love the way this particular sentiment from Stampin’ Up follows the lines of the fish – looks a little wave-like to me …

I had so much fun!  All those gorgeous bright colours just make me happy!

I also made a couple in more muted tones (no sunglasses required …)

Stampin’ Up! Love you to the moon (and back) …

Hello world. Wow, how I have missed being here in my happy place! I’m so sorry for my long absence … I’ve not lost my crafting bug – just picked up a nasty bug over Christmas and have been poorly ever since.   I’m still waiting on some test results, but I’m feeling much better and am hopefully now on the mend.

I does mean that I’ve not been able to craft for such a long time, and I’ve totally been missing my crafting therapy.  But I managed a little crafting last weekend, so I’m very happy to be able to share the card I made for my daughter who had some amazing news last week …

Love you to the moon heart framelit

I used some of my new crafting goodies from the brand new Stampin’ Up spring/summer mini catalogue, available 28 January to 30 June 2014 and launched today, coinciding with the amazing annual Stampin’ Up sale-a-bration too – you can browse both catalogues by clicking the buttons in my sidebar.

Love you to the moon washi tape

I was so excited to see the new Love you to the Moon stamp set in the mini, as this is what my daughter and I say to each other all the time.  So of course it was top of my (huge) wish list, and I love it!  And the gold sequins and washi tape are gorgeous too! Love lots!

Love you to the moon

What better way to show my daughter how very proud I am of her, and just how much I love her, than to send her a handmade card …

The inside …

Love you to the moon and back

I can’t tell you how happy it feels to get back to crafting.  This Happy video by Pharrell Williams, featuring the Minions, sums up just how I feel (just like that childhood song – if you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands).

Hope you have a great week too – turn up your speakers and enjoy the video …

Here’s what I used to make today’s card – all supplies from Stampin’ Up!:

cardstock: naturals white, real red, woodgrain natural composition speciality; stamp sets: love you to the moon; inks: early espresso; punches: small heart; accessories: heart framelits, expressions thinlits, timeless type alphasbet sizzlits (retired), bigshot, adhesive pearls, gold sequin trim, gold watercolour wonder designer washi tape, tombo multi-purpose glue.
