Christmas pop-up card

Hello and welcome.

I’m really happy to be joining the lovely ladies for the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown challenge this week, where Rosi has challenged us to make a pop-up card.

I watched a fab tutorial by Sam on Youtube the other day and was inspired to make my own version…

I used papers from my Prima Christmas paper pad and some thick whisper white card from Stampin Up to make this fun design which has a hexagonal base.

I cut nested circles with dies by Claritystamp, and added a Christmas sled die cut by Sizzix as the focal point, cut from white, pink and silver card.  I did a little inking around the poinsettia to add shading. The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set by Stampin Up.

This card folds flat and fits beautifully into a 6″ square envelope, and has a clever spring underneath so it pops up into shape as the recipient takes it out of the envelope.

This card was super easy to do and I loved how it turned out.

I hope you’ve been inspired to join in the challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown – we’d love to see what you make.

Enjoy your weekend

November stash challenge

It’s the last week of November and also my last week for hosting the challenges over at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown. This week I’ve chosen a stash challenge, to use gilding flakes or foil…

I used two different colours of gilding flakes by Clarity Stamp and two different techniques to add them to my card …

It was hard to capture the colours and shine on camera – it’s been a really dark day here, but I found if I angled the card a little, you could at least see the different colours a little better.

I used flitter glue by Indigo Blu to stamp the tree image and sentiment onto whisper white card and left it to go tacky before adding the gilding flakes…

I burnished the gilding with a scoochy pad, which really brought out the pattern. For the mat layer, I added sticky strip to the edges of a piece of card and added the flakes in the same way as before…

I just love the colours in the variegated gold and copper flakes – they are so beautiful in real life.

I hope you like my card for this week and you are inspired to have a go yourself. If you do, please share it with us at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown.
