A little Christmas sparkle …

Hi, and welcome to my blog.

I’m back as hostess again this week at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown with another new challenge.  And this time, I wanted to see some Christmas sparkle, so the stash challenge is for glitter and bling …

Christmas-sparkle

I water coloured the Lili of the Valley image using my Stampin’ Up inks, an aqua painter and blender pen.  Once the image was dry, I added dazzling diamonds using a glue pen …

Some glimmer paper snowflakes added a little more bling, with star centres and adhesive rhinestones …

I had some Christmas designer series paper from last year, which was too pretty not to be used.  The colours were just perfect and the patterns went so well with my theme. I love these cute little penguins … so adorable!

I couldn’t find a shade of ink I was happy with for the penguins’ beaks and feet, so I first coloured them with daffodil delight, and while the ink was still wet, went over them with a little calypso coral using a blender pen. Now that colour I was happy with!

I hope you like my card for this week. Now it’s time to see what the rest of the Design Team have been making for you at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown.

Deco labels wedding card …

My daughter asked me to make a wedding card for their friends, Stu and Katie, who got married recently, so I got out some of my new goodies from Stampin’ Up!

I just love the new deco labels framelits from Stampin’ Up! – they look so classy – so made them the star feature of the card …

wedding card Stu and Katie

I inked through a damask pattern stencil (from my stash), onto a piece of very vanilla cardstock, with night of navy ink, using a sponge dauber.  A length of very vanilla seam binding ribbon adhered across the card added some texture.  I cut three deco labels using the deco labels framelits and the big shot die cutting machine, and then inked the largest and the smallest frames around the edges with night of navy ink and my sponge dauber.

I stamped the sentiment in night of navy onto the smallest label, using my stamp-a-majig for perfect placement, and then assembled the card using stampin’ dimensionals to raise the labels up.  A tiny taffeta ribbon bow and a row of adhesive pearls completed the card.

The card design could easily be adapted for anniversary, birthday, or any celebration – just change up the colour and you could change the occasion.

Here’s what I used to make today’s card – supplies from Stampin’ Up!:

cardstock: night of navy, very vanilla; stamp sets: sentiment (retired); inks: night of navy; accessories: adhesive pearls, stampin’ dimensionals, tombow glue, very vanilla taffeta ribbon (retired), deco labels framelits, big shot machine, stamp-a-majig; additional: damask pattern stencil from my stash.
