Christmas pop-up card

Hello and welcome.

I’m really happy to be joining the lovely ladies for the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown challenge this week, where Rosi has challenged us to make a pop-up card.

I watched a fab tutorial by Sam on Youtube the other day and was inspired to make my own version…

I used papers from my Prima Christmas paper pad and some thick whisper white card from Stampin Up to make this fun design which has a hexagonal base.

I cut nested circles with dies by Claritystamp, and added a Christmas sled die cut by Sizzix as the focal point, cut from white, pink and silver card.  I did a little inking around the poinsettia to add shading. The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set by Stampin Up.

This card folds flat and fits beautifully into a 6″ square envelope, and has a clever spring underneath so it pops up into shape as the recipient takes it out of the envelope.

This card was super easy to do and I loved how it turned out.

I hope you’ve been inspired to join in the challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown – we’d love to see what you make.

Enjoy your weekend

A classy Christmas …

Hi there and welcome.

We’re in November now, meaning it’s just a few short weeks to Christmas, and I’m delighted to be setting the challenges this month over at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown.  The first challenge of the month is always a sketch …

I don’t know about you, but I like to start early with my Christmas preparations, which means a good clean out of every room in the house, including my craft room. In my tidying spree, I found these pretty papers I forgot I had, and decided that they should finally fulfil their purpose and adorn a card …

Putting the patterned papers together was easy, then it was a hard job (for me) to decide on the embellishments!  I auditioned a few different options before deciding on a die cut reindeer in real red card, teamed with small punched hearts in very vanilla.

I hand-stamped a sentiment from Itty Bitty Christmas by Stampin Up on very vanilla card, and hand-cut flag ends, before popping up on some fun foam.

There’s lots of pretty glitter embedded in the papers, which gives a sparkly Christmas vibe.  I showed the card to my husband and his first word was “classy” – I was happy with that!

I hope you’ve been inspired to join us over at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown this week – we would love to see what you come up with for this challenge.

Enjoy your weekend
