Tim Holtz oxide ink-blended Christmas card

Hello and welcome.

The technique challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown this week calls for distress inks or ink blending. I used distress oxide inks in rainbow colours for my card…

I’ve slowly been building up my distress oxide ink library, and now have a few colours that I absolutely love. This time I chose candied apple, ripe persimmon, squeezed lemonade, twisted citron, peacock feathers and seedless preserves. I masked off a section of a piece of multifarious card from Lavinia Stamps, and blended the inks in rainbow order across the panel, using the wave end of my Clarity stamp ink blending mat to create sections.  I find distress oxide inks particularly easy to blend, and I love the creamy, chalky feel to them.

I stamped the Lavinia Stamps trees in Versafine Clair black ink, added splashes of white posca pen for snow, and finished with a sentiment by Stampin Up using my Misti for perfect placement. The panel was then popped up using foam tape.

So, something different for me and I hope you’ve been inspired to join the challenge this week – we’d love to see what you make.

Enjoy your weekend

  1. MAGICAL… Who’d have thought rainbow colours could still evoke Christmas but you’ve created something special

  2. Gill… your background is fabulous! The trees with their perfect shadows are such a compliment!
