A bright and beautiful Christmas …

Hi and welcome to my blog. Wow – what a whirlwind! We’ve been away for a few days celebrating my daughter’s birthday with a trip to the wonderful island of Sicily. I have lots of photos and memories to scrapbook and share with you soon.

So, with an action packed schedule this week, I was so glad it was sketch week at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown. Having a sketch to follow sure helps when it comes to putting a card together. I think this was one of the quickest and easiest cards I’ve ever made …

I was still in a neutrals mood following my Guest Designer spot at Merry Monday last week, and chose a neutral background paper from the Gilded Winter collection by Trimcraft. It has this amazing embedded glitter which is stunning, and it made a great backdrop to the card. The greeting was centred to leave as much of the glitter visible as possible…

Crumb cake cardstock complemented the paper beautifully, and became the mat for the sentiment, from Bright and Beautiful by Stampin’ Up, stamped in early espresso ink on whisper white cardstock.

To give a pop of colour and contrast the neutrals, I tied a length of real red grosgrain ribbon in a single knot around the sentiment, and adhered it to the card with dimensionals.

A few adhesive rhinestones of different sizes, here and there, completed the look – I hope you like it.

Do please pop along to see what the rest of the Design Team at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown have created to inspire you.

And there is an exciting opportunity waiting for you this week – we are looking for some new designers to join our merry team.

So, if you have what it takes to be a successful card designer and would like to join an amazing group of ladies, please answer our DT call and show us your creations.

Good luck and have a wonderful week.

Bright and beautiful pink Christmas …

Hi and welcome to my blog.  I was happily hopping through blogland yesterday and came across a wonderful challenge from the lovely ladies at Jingle Belles for a “Pink Christmas”…

These fabulous ladies have promised to donate to charity $4 for every card linked up to their blog, so of course I just had to get back into my craft room and make another one layer Christmas card, this time in hot pink …

melon mambo stars

I inked up the bright and beautiful stars stamp set from Stampin’ Up…

Don’t you just love the melon mambo colour from Stampin’ Up? It’s such a gorgeous hot pink …

bright, beautiful and very girlie …

I added some dazzling diamonds with a glue pen, just here and there for some glitz …

and a couple of rhinestones too …

And in the same colour family is the equally gorgeous tempting turquoise…

so I made one in this colour too (what can I say? I was on a roll … )

I love the dazzling diamonds – so sparkly and pretty in real life …

Now I don’t know which one I prefer …

pink … or blue …

although I made 2 pink ones, so I’m guessing pink 😀

The Pink Christmas challenge at Jingle Belles is open until 6 pm on 22nd October, so there are a couple of days left for you to get your pink cards made and linked up there.

There’s no limit to how many times you play. So pass the word to all your card-making friends!

The only requirement is that all link-ups must be New holiday cards with some noticeable pink on them.

You may use sketches, combine challenges, and include any other colours in addition to pink.

You can also showcase however many cards you like – they will still count every single card towards the total for charity – how cool is that?!
