Gorgeous grunge masculine 30th birthday …

I’m still busy making Christmas cards and gifts, but the other day I needed to turn my attention to a birthday card for my friend, Jon.  Masculine cards are sometimes difficult to make, but I had a lot of fun making this 30th birthday card for him …

Wow 30

Based on the popular music CDs, I thought it suited Jon perfectly …

I used the gorgeous grunge stamp set from Stampin’ Up, to create a brightly coloured background, and then popped up letters and numbers cut out with the typeset alphabet bigz dies, in daffodil delight and tempting turquoise, offsetting them a little to create a 3D effect.

Here’s what I used to make today’s card – all supplies from Stampin’ Up!:

cardstock: tempting turquoise, daffodil delight, whisper white; stamp sets: gorgeous grunge, morning meadow (hostess set); inks: tempting turquoise, melon mambo, so saffron, green galore (retired); accessories: typset alphabet bigz dies, bigshot, stampin’ dimensionals.

Around the World Stampin’ Up! challenge #1 and a masculine 21st birthday card …

There are lots of fabulous new products in the latest seasonal catalogue from Stampin’ Up! and the sweater weather designer series paper is no exception.  The colours and patterns are not only good for autumnal cards and projects, but they are perfect for masculine cards too.

Our friend’s son, Owen, was celebrating his 21st birthday, so I got out some of my new crafting goodies to make him this card …

The little star, from the merry minis punch pack, came in handy for the little embellishments, and the good news is that the punches are still available to order, together with some other items on the carry-over list.

I was encouraged by my lovely friend, Jan, to join in the new Around the World Stampin’ Up! Challenge.  The very first AW-01 challenge theme is “celebrate”. Whilst my card may be a little understated, I hope it fits well with the theme.
