Hi and welcome to my blog.
This week at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown, the challenge is to use sequins and pearls. Remember my “string and bling” cards? Well this time I made a Christmas version …
The background was sponged with whisper white craft ink and a stencil…
At first, I was going to leave the main image stamped in black, but decided it needed a splash of colour. I took inspiration from artwork by a Liverpool artist – Freida McKitrick – who often uses splashes of red against her black line drawings. I had the pleasure of working with Freida a few years back, and now one of her pieces of art hangs on my daughter’s wall, a wedding present from her friend – small world, huh?
I distressed the edges of the centre panel before popping it up on dimensionals. Finally, gold sequins and adhesive pearls were scattered between the silver thread, tied around the card in a bow.
I hope you like my card for this week. Do please pop by to see what the rest of the Design Team at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown have created to inspire you, I would love to see your creations there too. Have a wonderful week.
