Christmas pudding shaped card

Hello and welcome. The theme challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown this week is Christmas food. I decided to make a Christmas pudding card using dies…

First, I cut a kraft base card using a large circle die, keeping the top edge out of the die so it didn’t cut through and would keep the card together, and then cut a little off the bottom using my guillotine so the card would stand more easily.  I embossed the bottom half of the card using the decorative dots embossing folder by Stampin Up, then swiped crumbcake ink across the raised dots, direct to paper, to add colour.

The topping was cut freehand in very vanilla card as I figured in real life the sauce is not quite white due to the brandy added! I sponged the edges with crumbcake ink then stamped a sentiment from the Christmas to Remember stamp set, by Stampin Up, and also stamped a sentiment to the inside of the card on a smaller circle of very vanilla card, which helped to add a little strength and stability to the card.

Finally, I stamped the holly and berries using the Christmas Season stamp set in lucky limeade and real red inks and die cut using the matching dies from the seasonal labels die set, then arranged and adhered them to the top of the card.  The card still fits nicely into a 6″ square envelope and is flat for ease of posting.

I previously made a small punch art pudding you might also like here.

I also made another, simpler version without the inking, which would be easier to batch make, but I prefer the first one – how about you?

I hope you’ve been inspired to join in the challenge this week – we’d love to see what you make.  Please do pop over to see what the rest of the Design Team have created to inspire you further.

Enjoy your weekend
