Merry melody Christmas pines card

Hello and welcome. As it’s the first Saturday in September, there is a sketch challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown.  I created this standard sized card using dies and stamping…

After diecutting the stitched rectangle, I decided to stamp some foliage around the edges in pool party ink using the Christmas Pines stamp set by Stampin Up. It would have been much better to stamp first then die cut as the stamp missed a little bit in the bottom corner, but at least it shows it’s a handmade card.  I embossed the centre deckle edged rectangle using the merry melody 3D embossing folder by Stampin Up, then popped it up on foam dimensionals.  The greeting was heat embossed using copper embossing powder on whisper white card.

Finally, I added a diecut snowflake by Tim Holtz in whisper white card, tucked diecut pool party foliage by Lora Bailora behind, and added a sprinkling of copper foil punched stars.

When making my challenge cards, I audition several different options before finally landing on something I’m happy with.  This was my first version which for some reason I wasn’t quite sure of…

I used two sizes of deckle edge dies to cut the centre panels, the same stamps and ink colours, this time adding the foliage in smokey slate.  The center panel was embossed using the softly falling embossing folder by Stampin Up, and I added a diecut from the Merry Tags framelits set, paper piecing pool party and copper foil card to add accent colours.

I hope you’ve been inspired to join us this week at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown as we’d love to see what you make.

Enjoy your weekend
