Partial stenciling

Hi and welcome to my blog.

I had fun making my card for this week’s technique challenge set by Rosi at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown. The challenge calls for partial stenciling.

Placing my stencil on an angle across my whisper white card, I held it in place whilst I inked over with tumbled glass distress ink using a blending brush…

I added more ink in some areas for variation and depth of colour …

These individual word stamps nestled neatly into the stenciled image.

For the focal point, I added this cute little image, stamped on water colour paper and coloured with artist colouring pencils, with a little dash of dazzling diamonds for sparkle. Finally, I sprinkled a few rhinestones over the background, mounted it onto a deckle edged card base and my card was complete.

I loved this challenge – it made me reach for my stencils, which I don’t always remember to do!

I hope you like my card for this week. Do please join the lovely ladies at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown and share your beautiful creations.

A stamp set is not just for Christmas …

I love Christmas stamps sets, but I really love when there is an image, such as a flourish, that can be used at any time of the year, like the one I’ve used here from the Season of Joy set …

Aviary thanks

The flourish was just perfect for adding to the birdcage from the aviary set – and great for the little bird to perch on.  The swirly font of the sentiment matched the design really well.  My stampamajig was a handy tool to line up the images just where I wanted them – I couldn’t have made the card without it.

Here’s what you need to make today’s card – all supplies from Stampin’ Up!:

stamp sets: aviary, season of joy, thank you kindly; ink: black stazon; cardstock: pool party, whisper white; accessories: stampamajig.
