To infinity and beyond…

My friend, Sarah, asked if I would make her a card for her nephew for his fourth birthday.  She told me that he loves anything to do with Toy Story, so I made a punch art Buzz Lightyear…

I got the idea from the amazing Ellen Kemper, a fellow Stampin Up demonstrator, who makes fabulous projects using punches from Stampin Up.

I changed a few things on my version.  I used one of the flowers from the boho blossoms punch in place of the slot punch which is now retired, and cut off the surplus petals.  I used half circles for the feet so that they faced forwards, and positioned one of his arms in the air – so he looks like he’s waving 🙂   I followed Ellen’s instructions for the rest.

For the background, I used cardstock in two of the in-colours – poppy parade and concorde crush – for the deep space sky and the red planet.  I punched holes in the planet’s surface using the large oval punch, and popped it up on dimensionals to add depth.

I had great fun making Buzz and I hope Laurence likes his card now that he’s the big 4!

Case to answer?…

I made this card and fantasy box for the mum of one of my friends and cased one of my own cards, even using the same colour scheme as before because that’s what my friend wanted and I aim to please! …

I love the way the box turned out.  You can see the other fantasy box I made here.

And this is what the box looks like open:

The designer series paper is so beautiful and looked just stunning when the box was finished.  My friend was really pleased with the matching card and gift box and her mum loved them too!  Win, win!

Stampin Up supplies used:

Cardstock: whisper white, so saffron. certainly celery; Inks: so saffron, chocolate chip; Stamp sets: sincere salutations, schoolbook serif alphabet, schoolbook serif numbers, frames with a flourish (retired); Punches: 1/2″ circle, scallop circle, two-step bird punch; Accessories:  bella bleu dsp (one of my favourites but sadly retired), basic pearls, stampamajig, white gel pen, clear embossing powder, stampin dimensionals, whisper white satin ribbon, paper piercer and mat pack.
