Stampin Up sheet music embossing folder handmade Christmas card

Hello and welcome.

The May theme challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown this week is ‘music’. There are so many ideas to choose from for this theme, from stamps to paper and everything inbetween.  In the end, I decided to use the sheet music embossing folder by Stampin Up for the background of my card, and for a change, I added the embossing directly to the card base, so you see the embossing on the inside of the card too…

I’ve also recently been challenging myself to use up my paper scraps, so delved in my treasure chest of scraps and found this die cut star, left over from a previous project, which made the perfect focal image popped up on the card…

Also in my scrap box was this die cut ‘joy’ sentiment, from the Stampin Up wondrous wreath die set, which added a bright pop of colour to an otherwise neutral coloured card.

And to finish, I added a couple of die cut holly leaves, using the Tim Holtz Holiday Greens die set, ink sponged them around the edges, and added a crystal jewel for a little sparkle.

So, no stamping on my card this week – I had a great time playing with paper though.

I hope you’ll join in this super challenge.  The lovely ladies on the design team have created some beautiful examples to inspire you, so do pop over to take a look.

Enjoy your weekend

Candles theme

I used scraps of dsp to make these punch art candles, cutting 3 different lengths and using different patterns to form their shape.  For the flames, I used the bird punch by Stampin’ Up to punch the wing from glitter cardstock and adhered them to the card with dimensionals. This punch will be retiring soon, which I’m sad about as it’s so versatile and I’ve used it so much. Whisper white cardstock was used for the background and the die cut sentiment …
