Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone – and I don’t know about you but I’m hoping and wishing for better health in 2011.

A few of you may know that I’ve not had a good time health-wise over the last 12 months, I even fell victim to the dreaded flu over Christmas 😦  So I’ve been in bed poorly since Boxing Day, and I was so upset as we had to cancel our plans for an engagement/New Year’s Eve party at our house.

But yes, my daughter is engaged!    Her gorgeous boyfriend proposed a week before Christmas.  They had deep snowfall over night in their village, and when she woke in the morning, he had sculpted a hand in the snow, placed the ring in it and wrote in the snow “marry me?” – how romantic is that?  He really is one in a million and we are so happy for them both.

So I guess our plans to celebrate their engagement will have to wait a little while longer, but I’m so looking forward to helping with the wedding plans and designing and making the invitations, of course!

Until then, here’s the engagement card I made for them:

I’ve not quite got the lighting right in the photo – I’m still learning how to use the new toy that Santa brought me!

Yes, I have a new photography light tent!  Think I need to upgrade my desk lamp now though as I can’t seem to get the hang of the positioning etc, and keep ending up with awkward shadows.

However, it is so much better than what I had before, which was an old Stampin Up delivery box with the sides cut out and covered with tissue paper!  Yes, my homemade light tent worked brilliantly for a while, except my cat is very partial to boxes and she quite regularly demolished said light tent!  There would quite regularly be cat shaped holes in the tissue paper sides!  (bless her … or words to that effect!)

My lovely new light tent is very swish, and folds up neatly into a slim, umbrella shaped cover.  So much better than trying to find room for a large cardboard box in my already full craft room!  Thank you Santa!  xxx

Stampin Up supplies used on the card:

Cardstock: whisper white, so saffron; Inks: versamark, so saffron, chocolate chip; Stamp sets: I heart hearts, occasional quotes (hostess level 3 set); Punch: scallop trim border; Accessories: bella bleu designer paper (retired), clear embossing powder, basic pearls, snail adhesive, dimensionals, whisper white organza ribbon.

Thanks for stopping by today
