Stampin’ Up ornament keepsake Christmas challenge

I’m excited to announce that I am a new Design Team Member for the 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown Challenge.  I am delighted to join the other very talented members of the team, who each week design and create Christmas cards to inspire you.  I really enjoyed making my first Design Team project for this week’s challenge following this sketch …

I used two of my favourite Stampin’ Up Christmas stamp sets – ornament keepsakes and more merry messages – which you’ll be happy to learn have been carried over from last year and are still available to purchase.

I teamed the old with the new, using items from Stampin’ Up’s new spring/summer catalogue, such as of the gold washi tape and sequins, which are just crying out to be used on Christmas projects …

I followed the sketch quite closely for the layout, and added rows of paper piercing to the edges of some of the layers using the Stampin’ Up essentials paper piercing pack.

I’m loving the new gold washi tape (can you tell as I used it on my last card too?)  I left the ends of the tape torn as I really liked the effect.  

Keeping with the monochrome theme, I stamped the ornament in gold encore ink, which looks beautiful in real life, and then added rows of adhesive pearls …

cardstock: whisper white, brushed gold; stamp sets: ornament keepsakes, more merry messages; inks: early espresso, gold encore; accessories: holiday ornaments framelits, apothecary accents framelits, bigshot, adhesive pearls, stampin’ dimensionals, gold washi tape, gold sequins, essentials paper piercing pack & paper piercer.
