Santa Christmas card

Hi and welcome to my blog, it’s so nice of you to visit.

I bought the Cool Yule set of Tim Holtz Christmas dies a while back, but have so far been reluctant to use them as there are so many fiddly pieces to worry about! This week’s Santa challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown was the perfect opportunity to encourage me to finally give them a go…

I had a hard time thinking how I wanted my die cut Santa to look – a lot of the examples out there on Pinterest and the Sizzix website are a bit too grungy for me – I prefer cuter looking Santas if I’m honest! So I just took the plunge, cut out the pieces and then put him together, with a happy look to his little face I hope. It’s amazing how you can change the look and expression just by moving the facial features …. he nearly had an angry look as one of his eyebrows went on a bit wonky at first!

Once I had my cute Santa, the rest of the card seemed to come together easily. I stamped a bold sentiment in the bottom righthand corner of a piece of soft sky card, using my Misti stamping tool to help me with alignment. Then stamped snowflakes in different sizes using versamark ink to give a tone-on-tone look.

I added some dazzling diamonds glitter to two of the snowflakes using a quickie glue pen, then added a die cut snowflake in glitter card. Then it was just a case of putting the card together.

I have to say, I’m very impressed with my new black versafine clair ink pad. It’s really juicy, stamps beautifully, and what I liked even more is that it didn’t stain my clear stamp and cleaned away with ease – love it!

I’m also sharing my card at the following challenges: Christmas Kickstart challenge #50 – Santa and friends , The Holly and Ivy Christmas #94 challenge – anything Christmas goes, Happy Little Stampers May anything goes with dies challenge , and Merry Little Christmas – May anything Christmas goes

I’m so glad I finally used this Cool Yule die set – it was a lot of fun and I’m already thinking of more projects I can use it on again. I hope you’ve been inspired to join our Santa challenge over at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown this week, where the lovely team have created lots of examples for you.

Enjoy your weekend
