November sketch challenge

Hi, and welcome to my blog.

We are just one month away from Christmas now – what a year this has been. Some will be putting up their decorations early, and who can blame them? I think we are all in need of some joy and happiness.

November is my hostess month at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown, and the first challenge of the new month is always a sketch. I used the rule of thirds to help me design the sketch and it gives an opportunity to make a pretty cluster ….

And it was a great opportunity to use up some paper scraps too!

I chose these pretty, glittered paper scraps and played around with colours before deciding on these – I’ve had in my scrap bin for such a long time, but they were too good to toss in the bin! I topped them with a glittered die cut and some red sparkly gems too …

A stamped sentiment popped up on dimensionals, completed my design.

Hope you like my sketch and card for this week. We would love you to join us over at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown – why not have a go and share your card with us?

I for one, have been preparing for Christmas myself, and have started my annual cleaning ritual. As a child, my mum wouldn’t let us put up a decoration before the windows had been cleaned, the curtains washed, ironed and rehung, and the whole place given a clean and polish. As a child, I couldn’t understand why – I just wanted to jump right into the good stuff! But as an adult – I get it. I feel better knowing the house is shining like a bright new pin, and can relax and enjoy dressing the tree.

Hope you have a good week.

Fancy fold Christmas card

Hi, and welcome to my blog.

For Madja’s technique challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown this week, the challenge is to make fancy fold cards. My biggest challenge was choosing which one to try out – I eventually decided, after much deliberating, on a tunnel card. Not much to look at on the front …

Although I did get to play with some new snowflake dies from Sizzix, and some pretty snowflake paper from Stampin’ Up.

I die cut the sentiment from some shiny silver card – not easy to show here…

I teamed it with some scraps from my scraps box – it’s always nice when you can use up your paper scraps up, isn’t it? So satisfiying …

All the fun is on the inside of the card – that’s where the real show is…

With pretty designer series paper and sparkly snowflakes and a beautiful stamped sentiment.

A bit difficult to photograph and do it justice, but looks lovely in real life …

I hope you like my card for this week. The ladies at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown would love you to join them – do pop by and share your Christmas makes.
