Christmas stocking card in red and brown

Hello and welcome.

It’s great to be joining the lovely design team at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown again this week, this time for a colour challenge, where we’ve been challenged to use red and brown together on a card…

I chose to use cherry cobbler and crumb cake cardstock by Stampin’ Up, and a white card base.

The Christmas stocking die by Sizzix was the perfect size for my slimline card.  I stamped the sentiments from Itty Bitty Christmas and So Many Stars stamp sets in early espresso ink, and also lightly sponged the edges of the small tag in the same colour.

Cherry cobbler twine added the perfect hanging opportunity for the stocking, and a tiny wooden close peg helped hang it up, just in time for Santa!

I hope you’ve been inspired to join in the colour challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown – there are only 11 weeks to the big day!

Enjoy your weekend

Perfect pearls Christmas

Hi there, and happy Saturday to you!

Fabiola is our hostess for this month, and she has set a fabulous stash challenge today over at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown – to use perfect pearls.

There are several techniques for using this cool product, and it’s easy to use wet or dry.  The most difficult thing is deciding which technique to use!

One of the easiest ways to use perfect pearls is to stamp an image using a sticky ink, such as versamark or perfect medium, then add the perfect pearls with a soft brush direct to the image – I used perfect gold for the star. I mixed a little more perfect gold with water on a palette and painted this over some sections of the star.

Next, I stamped the sentiment in versamark ink and heat embossed in white.

To give a starry sky look, I mixed perfect pearl with water and splashed this randomly over the card.  It’s so pretty in real life – the sheen really glimmers in the light.

I fixed the perfect pearls to the card with a light mist of water, then popped up my artwork on an A6 base card, and added some gold sequins to finish.

I hope you’ve been inspired to join the challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown where the team have designed lots of examples for you.

Enjoy your weekend
