Happy Fathers’ Day with the open sea by Stampin’ Up …

I went with a nautical theme for this Fathers’ Day card, using the timeless, summer-seaside favourite colours of red, white and blue, with a little sahara sand thrown in too…

Wedding guest book …

As well as the wedding invitations and stationery, I also made my daughter’s guest book …

Guest book and pen

I used on board sheets and covered them with Fan Fair designer series paper from Stampin’ Up!

They both loved that I was able to position the map to show the UK, Iceland (where they had a fabulous holiday together) and, of course, Malta, where they were married.

I added labels with their names and date of the wedding, tied with linen thread and a piece of seam binding ribbon, and threaded pearls…

I used more of the Fan Fair dsp to make embellishments for the inside of the book,

with a little more stamping, and a handwritten message …

A personalised label for the inside too and more stamping …

two seahorses, as when they mate, they mate for life …

guest book inside front page

The inside leaves of the book were cut from naturals ivory cardstock

and I stamped on alternate pages with the open sea and creative elements stamp sets,

(the elegant rectangular label is retired)…

One of the things I loved making for them was their wedding cake.  My fabulous friend, Min, who now lives in Malta, let me use her kitchen, cake tins and equipment, and also sourced all the ingredients for the cake – which can be tricky when you live on a little island!  She had been to her cake supplier weeks beforehand, to let him know she would be requiring a large quantity of fondant icing etc, and he’d assured her not to worry.  Little did either of them know that there would be a mass confirmation service in the local cathedral the week before the wedding, with 250 children then needing celebration cakes, suddenly creating a shortage of fondant on the island!  But nothing phased Min – she happily went to as many shops as she could find and eventually found enough fondant to make the cake.   She was amazing!  She even provided me with some of her delicious homemade lemon curd for the lemon tier of the cake.

It took 2 whole days to make – I adhered each pearl lovingly by hand…

Min was amazing, keeping me calmer than I’ve ever been before when making any cake, let alone the most important one in both mine and my daughter’s life!  Even when we had slight problems, Min did not let me panic at all – she just kept me supplied with a never ending supply of delicious homemade food and, of course, cups of tea!  She has a huge sign on her fridge which says “keep calm and put the kettle on” – love it!

And the happy couple …
