Hand-stamped Christmas pines

Hello, and welcome to my blog.

The final challenge of this month at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown is to use stamping.  I had lots of ideas as there are so many stamping techniques to use! Having thought about it for a while, I decided to stamp onto a piece of dsp, something I often forget about but which I really love the look of…

I knew when I saw this Christmas Pines stamp set by Stampin Up a while back, that I just had to have it, but once I got it I have hardly used it! I think I may have used the sentiments a couple of times, but didn’t really know what to do with the images.  So I decided to just get out my inks and have a play…

I started by stamping the pine foliage twice at the corner of a piece of wood textures dsp, using my Misti to help me with placement. I have the original Stampin’ Up felt ink pads from years ago, which I still love and are still going strong after many years of crafting use.  I particularly loved the texture it gave to the foliage, giving a definite hand-stamped look …

I’m not as in love with the newer sponge ink pads by Stampin’ Up – the ink pools up on the stamp and gives a blotchy look, which is what happened with the crumb cake ink I used for the base of the two-step stamped pinecone…

Still, my trusty felt ink pads did a great job of the rest of the stamping, and I’m really happy with the finished card…. although part of me still wants to go back and add a little red somewhere …..

I finished off by mounting the dsp on a piece of early espresso cardstock, and popped it up on the deckle edged base card with a piece of fun foam, so it will be sturdy going through the mail.

I hope you like my card for this week and that you are inspired to join us over at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown.

Enjoy your weekend.

Glass glitter star card

Hi and welcome to my blog.

I’m back after the Easter break to join the colour challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown, where this week the challenge is to use silver and white. I loved making this star shaped card …

I folded a piece of white cardstock in half and die cut the star shape across the fold to keep the card joined at the top, then stamped the sentiment with versamark ink and heat embossed with silver embossing powder.

Next, I added silver glass glitter to the bottom half using heat and stick powder.

I love how it turned out – that glass glitter is lush!

I’m linking this card up with the Happy Little Stampers ‘anything goes with dies’ challenge:

I hope you like my card for this week and that you’re inspired to join the challenge over at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown.
